We did do something really cool today though! For Reading Across America week the kindergarten and first grade teachers all switched classes every 10 min and read a book to each class that came in. What a fun idea!!! I was glad I was subbing to be a part of it. I know some of the other teachers read Dr. Seuss, but my teacher left me The Monster At the End of This Book. This book is so much fun to read!!!! I had some of the kids come help and try to turn the pages and we all closed our eyes and counted and turned the final page! They were so excited! Check it out below:
So after such a great, fun day of reading, I also thought I'd share some other books which have been on my wish list and that I finally went and treated myself today! Hey it was Friday and I subbed all day...I deserved it, didn't I?
I like them both for different reasons, but they have AMAZING illustrations and I'm just a sucker for picture books....but hey they made my day!! I'd love to hear some of your favorite picture books to use in the classroom!!!!
Also, have you heard of Teaching Blog Addict? If not, GO RIGHT NOW!!! (Click their button) They have Freebie Friday links, every single Friday, what's not to love about that????!! That's my favorite part plus they have different teaching bloggers every day...more blogstalking for me ;)
Check them out!
I subbed in 4th grade and the only thing we did was when the 1st graders came in to read. I guess I should be happy with that...would have LOVED to be in a younger grade to do more. Oh well lol :)

The Resource(ful) Room!
Hi Amber! I am your newest follower! One of my favorite picture books to read aloud is Piggie Pie. I got it for a present during my student teaching and all of my kiddos signed it. It is a fun book to read with a "witch voice"!
ReplyDeleteI would love for you to visit me when you get the chance! I have LOTS and LOTS of *freebies*! =)
