Currently February

Ok- almost February! What a great and short month it has been! We haven't had ONE full week in January with those stinking cold days! A couple was great but I'm over them now and definitely don't want to be making them up in the warmer spring weather.

Loving: How crazy and awesome Science Night was! Our school had a HUGE (read 100s of people turn out) A little chaotic but I know the kids loved it! Big blog post on it coming soon :)

Here I was lighting some money on fire for a demo but the kids and parents got to rotate through stations to see and get to do some awesome Science!

thinking: how grateful we should be for loved ones.  The hubby was in a minor car accident today and it was scary but I'm glad everyone is ok!

Wanting: Exactly this one - EXACTLY!

The one I wabt

Valentine's Math

I created a Valentines mini-math pack this year.  Perfect for lower primary grades reviewing graphing, and simple addition concepts. Check it out by clicking any of the pictures below.

I did this as a FLASH freebie on my Facebook page - be sure to like so you don't miss any more free items!

These fun centers, independent work or whole class work would be great for any classroom with the fun manipulatives that always appear around this time of year! Gotta love candy.

I was actually pretty proud of myself because I used all my own frames, clipart, and borders in this pack- how cool is that?!  You can check those out in my store too if you are liking what you see :)

Kindergarten Writing Center UPDATE

Remember this post?! I talked on and on about my writing center at the beginning of the year and the options my kindergarteners had!

Well I have an update.  I added one more option to my center about 6 weeks before break.

I wanted to give my students more practice with writing letters and now words, but also counting.  I was inspired when I saw some connect the dots and my students counted out loud to help.  Combining the 2 is perfect for the beginning of the year kindergarten.  Here are some of this center in action:

You connect the dots to make a word or a letter and then practice writing the letter on the lines below.

The center contains our sight word list, see the preview for more information!

Easy to use and reuse again - perfect for a center.

For our writing center later in the year - we use my sentence starters

They are a great transition piece for my students who need to read the words, finish the sentence, and "mail" it to me.

After these become too easy, they get full writing paper with a checklist that they can work on when we have centers.  We also have a designated writing time (block) once a week along with mini lessons.  So we progress from writing letters/words to finishing sentences, to writing on our own.

One of my favorite papers has been - the one below - because of the checklist! It keeps us focused!!

Five for Friday

What's been going on? I don't think I've done one of these for awhile!

We did some of our sight words hunts! We love using magnifying glasses to find our words!  My pack below is great for the WHOLE YEAR! and is now EDITABLE!!! Even better
click pics for more info!

My prepositional words book has been a hit with my students that need extra help with these words! We love using Velcro and getting to place objects - it makes it much more fun!

One of my favorite Christmas presents - my new chair! I love the colors and the words.  My mom made this special chair for me and I love getting to sit in it everyday at school!

I posted this on Instagram (SSSTeaching) a few days ago! I love my new apple Post it dispenser and my photo frame so I finally have some pictures on my desk. I've been meaning to , just never got around to it!

on Monday we had a COLD day- the Governor called off school for the state! Hello 3 day weekend!

I just moved up North so this came as a surprise, but a nice surprise since we were already back in school on Thursday.  I'll definitely be staying inside all day with those -60 degree windchills - record cold even for the Antarctica I live in (MN ...hehe)
